How to Play Reversi

Basic Rules

• Place your piece on an empty cell adjacent to your opponent's piece
• You must sandwich one or more opponent pieces between your new piece and an existing piece of your color
• All sandwiched pieces flip to your color (horizontal, vertical, and diagonal)
• If you cannot make a valid move, your turn is skipped
• The game ends when the board is full or neither player can move
• The player with the most pieces wins

Strategy Tips

• Corners are king - once captured, they can never be flipped
• Avoid cells diagonal to empty corners - they give your opponent corner access
• Edges are valuable - edge pieces are harder to flip
• Don't hoard pieces early - control edges and corners instead
• Mobility matters - having more valid moves gives you more options
• Endgame shift - in the last 10-15 moves, piece count matters most
